Her advice: "Find your own niche. What makes you different from everyone else out there? Listen to your customers - their likes and dislikes - but never put anything out there that you don't personally love. If you love your product, you'll find that others will too. And never cut corners."
"Start slowly in your local farmers market. The interaction with people who are not your friends and relatives, and the instant feedback, are invaluable. Little kids are the best! They have no filters, and unlike most adults, will let you know immediately if they like or don't like something."
