What are the ingredients in the packet of calcium powder that comes with Pomona’s Universal Pectin?

The monocalcium phosphate powder that comes in its own packet when you purchase Pomona’s is a food-grade rock mineral source of calcium made up of two minerals, calcium and phosphorous. The food industry uses it as a yeast nutrient in baking, an acidulant in baking powder, and a mineral supplement.

Hello! I love your product because it allows me to use much less sugar, however I am not a fan of the firm set. Therefore, I generally use much less pectin than the recipes call for. I don’t know that I can therefore adjust the calcium downwards as well, therefore I’m always short on the calcium while still having an excess of pectin. Long story short, is there a way I can purchase only the calcium? Adding some baking powder just seems like a bad idea, lol. Or a Tums?

    Appreciate the info!

You bet! You can also make the calcium water in smaller batches if you’d like. If you will email us your mailing address, we would love to send you some additional calcium powder. 😊
